Animating CANU with S4C

Animation Students from CSAD Work on a Broadcast TV show

Animation students from CSAD have been working on a new animated preschool TV show entitled ‘Canu’, (Signing in Welsh). The production is a commission for Welsh Language broadcaster S4C and is a co-production between S4C, Mudiad Meithrin and the Book Trust. Production partners on the series are Hurst Animation, Picl Animation and CSAD. Siwan Jobbins and Cynhyrchiadau TWT are the lead producer.

The project presents a fantastic opportunity for our Animation students to gain real work experience and an invaluable first production credit on their CV’s. The students are experiencing all aspects of a commercial animation process from storyboard to final composting.

Siwan Jobbins, series producer commented: “Twt Productions is absolutely delighted to be working with Picl Animation and the students at Cardiff Met. Working in partnership and encouraging newcomers to the industry is very much a party of our ethos so the students at the Met are a perfect fit for us. The team working on ‘Canu’ are keen, enthusiastic and have really embraced the project, offering creative solutions to problems and giving their work the attention it needs and deserves. We couldn’t be happier with the students.”
