Applications for the CSAD Incubation Unit for 2018-19 are now open. We’re keen, as always, to stress that places in the Inc Space are open to grads from all our programmes so whether you aspire to be a practicing artist, a designer, run workshops, create upcycled products or do something very different again for a living we look forward to your application.

Applications are welcome from current CSAD Level 6 students and from those who graduated from CSAD in 2016 and in 2017 from its undergraduate and post graduate programmes.

We’re very proud of the success of those who’ve already completed a year in the Inc Space since its launch in 2014. For example, Helen Turnbull is now a successful illustrator and graphic designer, fine artist Jenny Cashmore recently staged a performance piece at at the Finnish Museum of Natural History as a part of the Finnish Art Agency’s six SHIFT mentoring programme and printmaker Molly May Lewis has been collaborating with designer, filmmaker and artist Mark James. Laura Welsman and AJ Stockwell both teach at CSAD as well as continuing to develop their creative practice and ceramicist Kate Haywood is showing a group of porcelain and textile works alongside glass forms made in collaboration with James Maskery in the Ruthin Craft Centre’s current exhibition. Anna Palamar and Clojo Bedingham continue to sell their textiles at shops and craft fairs as well as on-line. They have also been selling work alongside furniture designer Jenny Finnigan, jeweller Rhian Morris and ceramicists Jade Sims and Charlotte Burke at the University’s pop up shop in the city centre.

We’re holding a Boot Camp on the afternoon of 7 February that will be useful to help you gather information to include on the application form.  You don’t have to attend but you might find it useful if you do.  Places are limited so you will need to book in advance.

The closing date for Inc Space applications is Wednesday 21 March and the Inc Space programme will run from Thursday 20 September 2018 to Friday 6 September 2019.

If you would like to talk about your idea or application, would like further information or an application form or want to book a place at the Boot Camp please contact Angie Dutton – adutton@cardiffmet.ac.uk.
