Ceramics students collaborate on ‘In Their Steps:ChARTism on the Hill’

CSAD Ceramics students have been involved in a new project entitled ‘In Their Steps: ChARTism on the Hill’,  a collaboration between Team DG, Parry & Glynn and Ned Heywood.

“‘ChARTism on the Hill’ takes the form of a trail of 22 depictions of footwear in ceramic, beginning at the cathedral and ending in Westgate Square. Some might be sandals, some will be mil
itary boots; others will be brogues, or baby’s booties – whatever the community suggest might represent the people of Newport now. Taken together, the 22 pairs of shoes will mark out a trail – and denote the 22 fallen Chartists who died in the exchange of fire at the Westgate Hotel”.
