The 24hrs Fashion induction week project gave the students the opportunity to explore the potential of designing with shapes rather than creating patterns for designs. Pattern cutting and design are physical activities, they extend from the hand eye, from rotations of wrist, elbow & shoulder, but they also flow from the mind and perception of spatial awareness, from the psychological processes of transferring ideas & concepts into 3D dimensional shapes.
The students explored the potential of fabric and forms by creative and initiative manipulation of different sizes of shapes e.g. rectangles, circles and squares to create highly creative visual STATEMENTS highlighting the bold silhouettes shapes.
