Our Lecturer in Animation, Tom Edgar, was contacted recently to help animate this latest commercial for moneysupermarket.com through the production company MJZ.
Tom said “Having worked with the crew before it was great to meet up with them again, as they had just stepped off Isle of Dogs” (Wes anderson’s latest stopframe movie). How amazing it was to be surrounded by my childhood toys (many of them 70’s originals) and be able to finally bring them to life, as I had imagined so many years ago!” And, as to the camp “dad dancing,” well that seems to be a running theme in my work, as I recently animated a cITV “Tell a Story” winning entry called “Daddy’s Stinky Pants” where I had to channel my best moves into a 12 inch puppet!”
The spot was directed by Tom Kuntz, (famous amongst other things for the “Taste the Rainbow” skittles commercial) and commisioned through Mother advertising agency.
Tom was able to bring a lucky CSAD student with him as an intern to help create the spot and has inspired his students with behind the scenes expositions of Action Man and his cohorts.
Tom is a stop frame director and animator and Lecturer in Animation at Cardiff School of Art & Design/Cardiff Metropolitan University.
