Applications for the CSAD Incubation Unit are now open!

Applications for the CSAD Incubation Unit for 2019-20 are now openWe’re keen, as always, to stress that places in the Inc Space are open to grads from all our programmes so whether you aspire to be a practicing artist, a designer or launch your own business or social enterprise we look forward to your application.

Applications are welcome from current CSAD Level 6 and Masters students and from those who graduated from its undergraduate and post graduate programmes in 2017 and in 2018.

We’re very proud of the success of those who’ve already completed a year in the Inc Space since its launch in 2014.  For example, painter Aidan Myers now has a studio at The Sustainable Studios, shows work in the UK, Europe and the USA and has recently completed a residency in India.  Maker graduate Evan Moore recently exhibited his lighting designs at the London Design Festival and printmaker Molly May Lewis has undertaken many commissions for hospitals, health boards and designers as well as continuing to make, show and sell her own work.  Textiles designer Clojo Bedingham has moved her business Cornwall from where she ships her products across the UK.  Helen Turnbull continues to work as an illustrator but is also using her skills and experience in a social enterprise supporting homeless people.

Current Inc residents are also thriving with Clio Anastasiou undertaking a major commission to create public art for a housing developer, Toni de Jesus selling his ceramics through the prestigious Mint Gallery in London and Marek Liska is exhibiting work at the 2019 rising Stars exhibition at the New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham and has undertaken commissions for public engagement activities at arts festivals.  We’re also thrilled that illustrator Mari Phillips has just published her first book.

We’re holding a Boot Camp on the afternoon of 13 March (2-4pm in the Product Design Studio) and on 14 March (1-2 in B307)  that will be useful to help you gather information to include on the application form.  You don’t have to attend but you might find it useful if you do.  Places are limited so you will need to book in advance.

The closing date for Inc Space applications is Friday 5 April and the Inc Space programme will run from Monday 16 September 2019 to Friday 4 September 2020.

If you would like to talk about your ideas or application, would like further information or an application form or want to book a place at the Boot Camp  please contact Angie Dutton – adutton@cardiffmet.ac.uk.
