Brandon Jones, a first year Product Design student at Cardiff School of Art & Design is the 2018 winner of the British Education Awards for Wales in the Vocational category.
As part of his Welsh Baccalaureate Community Challenge last year Brandon led a team of Year 10 pupils from local Cyfarthfa High School to the national finals of the F1 In Schools Challenge at Silverstone. This required a commitment of 30 hours working with the Year 10 students, at the end of which Brandon had impressed staff at his college so much he was invited to coach and mentor Year 11 engineering and design and technology learners.
Brandon gained Double Distinction* in his BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering at The College Merthyr Tydfil and is currently studying Product Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University with the aims of pursuing a career in teaching.
