Morocco Field Trip

An inter-disciplinary group of our Second Year students have recently been out to Marrakech, Morocco, as a part of their Field module studies.

The Cultural Colours of Morocco project offers second year students an intercultural experience of material culture and differing cultural values. Experiencing international travel to northern Africa assists students in defining their ‘cultural self’ as an artist or designer, within their chosen disciplines.

As a part of their week long expedition to Morocco students visited ancient medinas and artisan workshops, 16th century Moorish museums, as well as traditional architectural and formal gardens. All of which provided students with inspiration and a wealth of visual material with which to inform their research in future.

Check out the video above from second year Illustration student Suzanne Hodgetts which captures some of the activities students goy up to whilst on their travels.

This year’s study visit to Marrakech was led by Senior Lecturer for Textiles, Sally Grant, and Senior Lecturer for Illustration, Chris Glynn.
