Wales in Venice Invigilation Plus Programme

Seven of the School’s Fine Art students have been selected to take part in the Wales in Venice Invigilation Plus programme co-ordinated by the Arts Council of Wales, Chapter Arts Centre, and g39.

They will each be spending a month in Venice helping invigilate James Richards’ show at the former convent of Santa Maria Ausiliatrice Fondamenta San Gioacchino in the atmospheric Castello area of the city.

The six third year students and one second year student will also be given time to develop and implement a personal project while in Venice. In previous years invigilators have undertaken a variety of initiatives from breakfast clubs that bring together invigilators and artists from around the world to research at Orsoni colour library and explored through visits to collections and galleries concerns such as which point does an object become a work of art and at which point does an artwork become an object?

Adam, Angela, Anna, Ella, Gweni, Mark and Rhian will be blogging about their experiences, their research and their personal projects while in Venice so watch out for how you can follow them and see how the experience of spending a month immersed in what many consider the world’s greatest art festival impacts upon their ideas and practice.
